2010 is just around the corner. It's time to recap the year and to prepare for the new year.
I accomplished a lot of stuff. I took over the TypePad Japan team, including products, engineering, QA, and operations. Awesome team is now looking forward the new challenge in 2010.
I led the project of migrating TypePad Japan to the brand new TypePad. Unfortunately it wasn't able to reach the goal in the year, but more than 80% of users have been migrated and enjoying the new TypePad, thanks to the folks in the US office.
Movable Type 5.0 ships. I was there at the start but eventually left the project due to overwhelming number of jobs in the TypePad land. But I think I am allowed to say I am involved and I am proud of the product.
I lived in the US for a month and a half in this summer. I just loved, loved, and loved the place despite a few sad things happened there. Living abroad for more than a week was the first time since I was a high school student when I stayed in London in summer. That was awesome.
So, everything was great except a few things I lost. I had to leave the awesome Movable Type team which was probably my biggest contribution to the company's growth. But I know they will do well without my help. I lost a few things in my personal life this year also and it still hurts, worse and worse every day. But I know it will settle. I re-realized that I have a few but really truthful friends.
Oh and one more thing. Apple just authorized the updated version of TypePad for iPhone app which I am also very proud of. Nobody else was able to accomplish this task within the year. This kind of tiny little things, such as revamping iPhone App and migrating the sucky CRM we used for uploading knowledge base articles to something more manageable, are what I am proud of leading and doing because I believe it is these tiny little things that people will be happier with and will go mad with. I am proud of doing these even though I know nobody will praise me for doing it because it's too tiny and I know people easily forgets how his/her life sucked before it. I will do these things in 2010 because I believe it. So call me a micro manager.
Happy new year everybody!
